For those who are considering a Barracuda Network Device server

Funny thread since Barracuda Network’s just down the street from my company. I occassionally see their Scion Xb all done up with their Barracuda graphics. Glad I’m running SpamAssassin and saving some money.

Blasted Internets!

I had trouble working yesterday morning due to the Landis bonk on Stage 16. Today’s even worse with Landis’ miracle performance. Between all the articles, blogs and forums, it’s hard to keep my mind away from Floyd Landis. FLOYD LANDIS!!!

Just don’t pull a Rasmussen on the TT, you crazy fool!

Floyd Landis – You Made Me Cry!

At 6:50 AM this morning, I turned on the TV to OLN for the morning check on the Tour. My mind went “WTF!!! WTF!!!” when I saw Floyd Landis was in the virtual yellow jersey with one more climb left in the stage. I had tears in my eyes as I ran back to the bedroom and shouted to my wife that Floyd was in the lead. After yesterday’s disappointment, his stage win today was a performance for the ages. He didn’t win back the yellow jersey today, but being only 30 seconds back from the GC leader with a time trial stage coming up, it’s Floyd’s tour to lose now. Floyd Landis, you da man!

Floyd cracked – I’m sad

I’m somewhat shocked and depressed that Floyd Landis cracked so badly today on Stage 16. It looks like the yellow jersey and even a podium finish may be out of reach for him now. I fell for his background, character, and attitude even before the news about his hip came out. The Hollywood story for him now would be to have his hip replacement and come back to finish on top at the Tour de France.

Schleck wins L’Alpe d’Huez; Landis back in yellow

Schleck wins L’Alpe d’Huez; Landis back in yellow

Landis is in yellow again. Now Phonak will have to protect the yellow jersey all the way to Paris. Leipheimer had a good day today, but a lot of riders have to crack, and he’s going to have to ride consistently in order for him to have a podium finish. Even with Landis in yellow, the race is still wide open with two more mountain stages left.

Israel – slightly smaller than New Jersey

CIA – The World Factbook — Israel

With all the recent unrest concerning Israel and its neighbors, I wanted to check out the size of the country. According to the CIA World Factbook, it’s slightly smaller than New Jersey and its population is only 6.3 million. No wonder it’s so concerned about its security – especially with rockets being fired right from the Lebanese border. I think the key fact to remember in all the Arab-Israeli conflicts and wars since the end of WWII is that if Israel is defeated, there is no other Jewish state in the Middle East. On the other hand, there are many Arab states.

Americans finish 2 and 3 in Stage 11

There’s a lot of talk about Leipheimer bouncing back and Landis getting the yellow jersey. I’m just happy to see that Americans finished 2 and 3 at the end of a very tough stage, and hopefully, are poised to give some more great performances as the Tour progresses.

No. 2 in Tour Confirms He Needs Hip Surgery – New York Times

No. 2 in Tour Confirms He Needs Hip Surgery – New York Times

CHÂTEAUBOURG, France, July 9 — Second over all in the Tour de France and a strong favorite to win the race when it ends July 23, Floyd Landis confirmed today a report that he had been riding in severe pain for four years because of a degenerative condition in his right hip, which he has kept secret. He said he was planning to have hip replacement surgery.

I have large keloids on both my hips due to mountain biking crashes. Luckily, my hip joints still seem to be in good shape. I hope Floyd finishes on top with this Tour, and comes back for more after his surgery.
