I put the battery a little further back on the Pitts S2 this morning, and the glide was a little bit better. It’s definitely a floater plane, but because of the extra draw of 2 vs 1 wing on the Boom, I can’t really go as fast. I’m thinking of putting the BP 2212-13 back on the Boom since it gave so much power, and the Turnigy also makes a lot more noise.
Rear inner tube gremlin
After replacing a Slime tube in the rear tire of my Bianchi Axis twice in 7 days, I thought I would be okay with a new inner tube and Mr. Tuffy liner. During the day, I heard a loud hissing noise behind me which was the presta valve failing and releasing all the air in the tube. Fortunately, I had a spare tube, and I was able to replace the tube, pump it up with the frame pump, and make it home from work. I hope my run of bad luck is over now.

Haile Gebrsellasie runs a 2:03:59 Marathon World Record
Haile was already the greatest distance runner of all time, but his WR at the Berlin Marathon of 2:03:59 is unbelievable. Will I live to see a sub 2:00 marathon – unaided by artificial supplements of course?

Added gold Mr. Tuffy Liners to 28 cm Continental Ultra Gator Skin tires
Although the gold Mr. Tuffy Liners specify a tire wide of 32 to 41 centimeters, I was able to insert them into my 28 cm Continental Ultra Gator Skin tires without any problem. I got rid of the slime tube which had been compromised by a shard of glass which had penetrated the tire and left a hole too big for the slime to fill. Now I’ll depend on the Mr. Tuffy liner and the tire instead of Slime to thwart any flats.

Maidened MS Composit Pitts S2 biplane
I maidened the MS Composit Pitts S2 biplane at RSA last Saturday. The take off went very well, but the plane was bit nose heavy because of the battery placement (I was running a 3S 1300 Mah), and I flew it too low and lost sight of it below the rise of the flightline. The damage to the plane was a broken prop, a rip in the rudder by the control horn, and some rips in the Epp lower aileron hinges. Fortunately, repair was pretty easy with some clear Gorilla Glue. I’ll mount the battery a bit more back for the next flight so that when I cut power, I won’t have to apply any up elevator to maintain level flight. The plane doesn’t fly has fast as the Boom, but that’s not bad since I plan to do more 3D than sport flying with this plane.
I was able to take apart the BP Hobbies 2212-13 that wasn’t spinning well after the Boom crash, and it looks like a small piece of one of the magnets around the edge of the inside of the bell broke off. I wonder if it would still work okay if I was able to superglue the small piece back.

Bush in the White House in the first place if it wasn’t for your blow jobs, Bill, it seems obvious that you owe it to the people of this country, and especially to the parents whose kids died in the Iraq War that Gore would never have started, and to all the parents whose kids would be killed in the WarFest that would be a McCain/Palin — sorry, Palin/McCain — administration to do everything in your power to get Barack Obama elected.
My thoughts exactly. It’s amazing how history changed because of this minor incident that was blown out of proportion.

but there are a few tweaks I had to do to get it to work on my WordPress installation on Mac OS X Server.
The first thing I had to figure out is that since my mail server requires a secure connection for POP connections on port 995, instead of listing the mail server, I had to use this format:
ssl://mailserver name
port:995
In order to automate the request for wp-mail.php, I put in a cron job to request this script every five minutes:
curl -N http://example.com/installdir/wp-mail.php
I used Cronnix as an easy way to create the cron job with 0-59/5 in the first field which tells cron to make the request every five minutes.
One other thing I learned is that email can only be interpreted if it’s sent in plain text format.

MS Composite Boom Review
I’ve been flying the MS Composite Boom for two weeks now, and it’s a
quick and easy build which is very fun to fly. I used Futaba S3114
servos since they’re slightly smaller than the HS-55 sub-micro servo
size and were a little small for the drop in recesses on the Stevens
Aero Stik that I had purchased them for. With a 1300 Mah battery, it
really takes off. Originally, I had a BP Hobbies 2212-13 with a 10 X
4.7 APC Slowflyer prop on it, but I accidentally tried to take off
with flaperons down, and it made a big look and slammed into the
chainlink fence surround the baseball infield I take off from. The
engine was broken off and it didn’t turn anymore. I replaced the
engine with a Turnigy 2826 1350 kv with a 9 X 4.7 APC Slowerflyer
prop, and the plane is flying again. I think I might disable flaperons
on the plane since I don’t really use them.

Quicken.com Portfolio “Upgrade”

I have to chime in on the discord regarding the Brainiac decision to remove the one page overview of one’s portfolio. This was a quick and easy way to review holdings over multiple accounts, and now it’s gone! Please bring it back or if you want to get fancy, create an AJAX interface that allows one to expand all the accounts at once. Who’s the person or group responsible for this “update”?! Did they ever think to ask Quicken customers how they use the online portfolio?! Having to click so many times goes against the grain of even basic user interface design.
I was so angry when I tried to check my Quicken one page online portfolio, and it was missing. I don’t have all day to click through each of my accounts to see my holdings!
