Use Dremel tool to cut EPP foam

I was listening to the All Things That Fly Podcast, and they had a suggestion to use a Dremel tool to cut EPP foam since it gives a much finer cut than a blade.

Tied down servo wires with Power Pro Spectra Fishing line

I tied down some loose servo wires with Power Pro Spectra Fishing line on my MS Composit Pitts S2. I threaded the line with a needle through and back out of the foam structure of the plane and then tied a knot to keep the servo wires from flopping about. This is a lot cleaner … Continue reading »

Slow flight of Pitts S2 this morning

I put the battery a little further back on the Pitts S2 this morning, and the glide was a little bit better. It’s definitely a floater plane, but because of the extra draw of 2 vs 1 wing on the Boom, I can’t really go as fast. I’m thinking of putting the BP 2212-13 back … Continue reading »

Maidened MS Composit Pitts S2 biplane

I maidened the MS Composit Pitts S2 biplane at RSA last Saturday. The take off went very well, but the plane was bit nose heavy because of the battery placement (I was running a 3S 1300 Mah), and I flew it too low and lost sight of it below the rise of the flightline. The … Continue reading »

MS Composite Boom Review

I’ve been flying the MS Composite Boom for two weeks now, and it’s a quick and easy build which is very fun to fly. I used Futaba S3114 servos since they’re slightly smaller than the HS-55 sub-micro servo size and were a little small for the drop in recesses on the Stevens Aero Stik that … Continue reading »

A flying lamprey

This plane is inexpensive at $29.99 and looks like it’s fun to fly, but it looks like a flying lamprey to me: http://www.towerhobbies.com/products/greatplanes/gpma1865_e.html

EPP EAGLE THE RC RAPTOR – Another Cool Plane

The EPP EAGLE is another very unique design that I’m interested in eventually buying. There are hawks all the time at the flying fields I frequent, and it would be great to see how they react to the EPP Eagle. In addition to the LightFlite Twirl, this is one of those strange designs that would … Continue reading »

Coated Cox Christen Eagle with Varathane

The Cox Christen Eagle was very easy to put together two nights ago with the engine and most of the control hardware already mounted. The only thing I really had to do was to install the 3 servos. I’ve read on a post that it’s suggested to put 2 servors in for the ailerons for … Continue reading »

Stevens Aero Stik folds in spiral dive

I had my Stevens Aero Stik all dialed in, and I was having a lot of fun showing the family unpowered spiral dives. I should have realized this maneuver puts a lot of stress on an airframe, and the wing folded and collapsed during a spiral dive. It’s funny that my daughter thought I caused … Continue reading »

Make sure throttle hold isn’t switched “ON” when binding

When you’re binding a receiver to a Spektrum DX6i transmitter, make sure your throttle hold isn’t set to “ON”. If you do this, when you shut off the transmitter the throttle will go to full power if the battery, ESC and receiver are still connected.
