Day to Day
Modern day food muckrackers
I remember reading The Jungle by Upton Sinclair in high school and reveling in the gory tales of human body parts and other contaminants entering the assembly line of the meatpacking plants of Chicago. In college, I would read Diet for a New America and have the image of hundreds of chickens soaking in shit … Continue reading
Rode to Mountain View Boat House and back
First time E rode his 20″ and A rode her 24″ on the Stevens Creek Trail to the MV Boat House and back. E got pretty muddy on his offroad excursions. We made very good time with lack of wind and bigger bikes.
Speaking to a 97-year old
There’s a 97-year old lady who works (well, more volunteers than works since she said she retired at 82) at my daughter’s ballet school. Yesterday, while my daughter was getting fitted for her costume for the Nutcracker, I spent a half hour talking to her. She said she first danced on the stage at the … Continue reading

Light, fluffy for the last day of the year
About 6 inches of light, fluffy snow should fall here in Georgetown, Massachusetts for the last day of the year. We all did a bit of shoveling today, and Ally and Evan made snow angels. Allergies
My eyes are all dry and itchy, and I have sneezing fits during the day. I notice my allergies to pollen getting worse as I get older. I hope the air clears up soon of whatever’s irritating me.
Gas Price Watch
The Chevron on Fair Oaks in Sunnyvale had regular gasoline at $3.64 a gallon and premium at $3.84 a gallon. I think premium will break $4 in the local area some time in the next 3 months. I’ll have to ride my bicycle a lot more to work and drive a little slower while I’m … Continue reading
Balloon guys at Chevy’s
I wish the balloon guys at Chevy’s would go away. I just want a peaceful meal with my family, and I really don’t want someone making toy balloons for my kids during our time out together. We’re there to eat, not to see a balloon show.
Stormy Weather
It’s been raining a lot lately with high winds. Last weekend was very mild, and I had so much fun flying an Air Hogs You Build It with Evan, I decided to order the Pico Stick kit from Model Airplane Engineering. This weekend is great for flying a kite, but the high winds would just … Continue reading
