Kudos for R-Studio NTFS
When the memory failed on the Sony VAIO, it also seemed to adversely affect the hard drive with a lot of my wife’s files. I used R-Studio NTFS, and it was able to bring back everything from a “damaged” or “corrupt” drive. At $49, it was a very inexpensive way to bring back her files. … Continue reading
Bad Memory
I don’t like it when I get an email at work from my wife that says, “The computer keeps rebooting when I turn it on, so I turned it off.” Between the tech support issues at work and home, I just wish computers would work more smoothly sometimes. Our main problem at work is our … Continue reading
Switched to WordPress
I decided to switch from Blogger to WordPress because Blogger has had some performance issues recently in terms of being very slow. I thought things were better for a while when Google bought Blogger, but over the past few months, there have been times when I’ve been made to wait too long.
Bandwidth Speed Testing

Flip-flops in Washington D.C.
The dress code in my office is pretty casual. I bike to work and change into shorts and a t-shirt or a polo shirt during the summer. This Slate Article is very poignant considering I occupy one of those smaller homes (1,600 square feet) in the temperate states without any basement or attic. We actually do have an attic, but it’s cramped and hard to access. My wife and I are always trying to figure out where to store stuff, and we … Continue reading
Hot today
It was pretty hot today with temperatures over 90 degrees in Mountain View and over 100 degrees further inland. That’s nothing compared to Iraq at this time of year though where daytime temperatures are 120 degrees and it cools down to 90 degrees at night.
7-11
I dropped by 7-11 at the end of work today and picked up an Odwalla Mango Tango Smoothie. The lady ahead of me purchased a 12-pack of Budweiser Select (yeehaw – quality Bud!) and requested two packs of Marlboro Lights. What a great way to start off the weekend!
Too much Spam
I’m forwarding all the spam that Spamassassin, Clamav, and various rbls catch from our mailserver to a Gmail account in case there’s a false positive. Gmail does a pretty good job out of deciding what items out of the forwarded spam are false positives. If someone suspects there’s a false positive within the forwarded spam, … Continue reading
