This morning, I saw a Crystal Red Shrimp with large dark berries (eggs) on its underside. I hope they hatch and grow up.

Stopped feeding Hikari Crab Cuisine

Yesterday, I fed 2 pellets of Hikari Crab Cuisine and 1 pellet of Sera Shrimps Natural. This morning, I found another dead Red Cherry Shrimp. It seems like I see dead Red Cherry Shrimp every time I feed Hikari. I’m going to stop feeding Hikari for a month and see if I see any more dead shrimp.

A RCS managed to get out of the 2.5g at work, and I saw its dried remains on Monday lying beside the tank. I don’t know how or why it got out of the tank.

Adding 2.5 ml Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement a week to 15g

I’m adding 2.5 ml of Kent Freshwater Plant Supplement a week to the 15 gallon tank and turning the light on from 7am to 8am and 1 pm to 8 pm for a total of 8 hours a day to control the algae in the tank. It’s not bad right now with some film, beard and spiral algae, but I don’t want it to get out of control. I’ll also lightly feed only every other day.

In the future, once the algae’s under control, I’ll increase the photoperiod by 1 hour a day and increase the supplement by .5 ml a week.

Installed Whisper 30 filter on 15g shrimp tank and nocturnal activity of shrimp.

Installed a Whisper 30 filter on the 15g shrimp tank with a Zoo Med TC-702 sponge prefilter so the tank now has two hob filters. I’ve set both filters to low flow so they don’t buffet the shrimp around. Having two filters will help prevent any oil buildup on the surface. I noticed that the shrimp are feeding 24/7 when I looked inside the tank with a flashlight after the lights were out. Coloration of red cherry shrimp is looking very good.

This morning, only the red cherry shrimp are swimming all over the thank while the CRS are pretty mellow. I notice the CRS seem to like to Nutrafin MAX Complete Micro Granules more than the Hikari Crab Cuisine
