The Stalking of Korean Hip Hop Superstar Daniel Lee

I first read about Dan Lee/Tablo in Stanford Magazine, but the new additions to the Dan Lee story become even stranger since he’s married to Kang Hye-jung who is the main actress in the Korean film Oldboy. The themes of identity and revenge between the Dan Lee story and Oldboy share a stronger and even more uneasy connection with the introduction of Cho, Dan Lee’s cousin, in this recent Wired story. The blurring of the lines between reality and fiction starts feeling like a grand meta-punking.

My brother said I had to try 9-Minute Oil & Lube in Palo Alto since
it has a 5-star rating on Yelp with 199 reviews. This morning I went to
get my hair cut with the kids, and I went to 9-Minute Oil & Lube
since my hair stylist is conveniently only about 100 feet way. I was
very impressed by the speed and professionalism, and I think I met the
owner, Sam, who is one of those guys who always has an honest smile on
his face. He was also nice enough to give me a $15 rebate coupon for the
Pennzoil Platinum Synthetic I put in my car.

Riding in the “Long Rain”

I rode to work Monday through through Thursday. On Wednesday night, I heard a loud scraping sound coming from my front brakes, and I thought a pebble had become embedded in the grooves of my brakes. It turned out my front left brake was worn through to its left metal mount. The spare brakes I had were too thick when I tried to install them Thursday morning so I rode to work on Thursday with my fenderless mountain bike. On the way home, I was riding through some heavy rain and I started cackling in mad realization that even with fenders, I still would have gotten soaked. I guess all this rain is starting to get to me. This rainy week reminds me of Ray Bradbury’s “The Long Rain”.

Just give me my crazy California weather!

All I want to watch with the kids on the morning news is cars driving through flooded streets and houses falling into the ocean due to this wonderful California weather, but then the newscast is ruined by the hunt for Tiger in Hattiesburg, Misssissippi and John Edward’s real life Grisham novel shenanigans.
